Our story

Why Mad & Chef?

Two ideas under one roof. A room that doesn't take itself too seriously, and a kitchen that very much does.

Wall of drawn pocket watches and clocks hanging on chains above shelves of plants and teapots

♠ The Mad

Follow the white rabbit inside.

Step under the striped awning and you are somewhere else. The walls are hand-drawn in black ink: teapots, cups balanced on cups, top hats, a hot-air balloon and Alice herself. Pocket watches hang on long chains, none of them on time. “We're all mad here” is written across the wall by the counter.

Above it all is a ceiling of hanging greenery and white blossom, lit by woven rattan lanterns. There are banquettes by the windows and wooden tables in the back room by the old fireplace.

♥ The Chef

From breakfast to the grill.

The kitchen cooks from morning to night. By day, it is Turkish eggs with chilli butter, big breakfasts with Cumberland sausage, bennies on toasted muffins and pancakes with maple syrup.

From six o'clock on Thursday, Friday and Saturday the menu turns to the Mediterranean: gambas al ajillo, pan con tomate and padrón peppers, chicken casserole bubbling in a stone bowl, lamb chops off the grill, sea bass, seafood linguine and mantı. Bring friends and share.
